How to Sow Double Pink Cornflower Seeds
Double pink cornflower is a hardy plant, which once fully grown, will reach with a height of 75cm. Native to cornfields around Europe, cornflower originally was found to grow like a weed in dense cornfields. With its bright, double pink flowers that will stand out on any border, bed or windowsill box. Cornflowers are edible once grown, making cornflower sugar to use in baking and using as a garnish with cooking.

- Can be sown indoors, ensuring the area receives enough light and warmth. A windowsill or conservatory works great, or plant outdoors after the last frost has passed.
- The germination period takes between 5 to 10 days. Ensure seeds are fully covered by compost, as they require darkness to germinate.
- plant the seeds at a depth of 1/8″ to 1/4″ and spacing of 10″ to 12″ apart. Keeping the soil well drained. Cornflowers will tolerate most soil types.
- The optimal temperature for germination, is between 15-20 degrees.
- You can transplant, once the seedlings have reached a height of 2″ to 3″ tall.
- Once double pink cornflower has blossomed, they are edible and can be used in cooking, baking and even made as sugar.
