How to Sow Premium Giant Sunflower Seeds
Premium Giant Sunflower is one of the largest sunflowers, growing between 12 to 14 feet tall once fully grown. With bright yellow flower heads, that reach a diameter of 40cm. Each sunflower will produce a lot of seeds, which can be harvested for growing, cooking, baking or making oil and the head itself is also edible. Ideal for growing with children as they are easy to sow and grow. Note that large sunflowers may require staking, as they grow.
Sowing Guide for Premium Giant Sunflower Seeds
- Sunflowers are very easy to sow and grow. If sowing indoors, seedlings may need to be taken outdoors before getting too large.
- Sowing seeds directly outdoors after the chance of frost has passed, sowing seeds at a depth of 1/4″. Using fresh compost, or well worked soil will help increase germination rates.
- The germination period takes between 14 to 21 days, keeping the soil moist but well drained.
- Once seedlings reach a height of 2 or 3″ transplant to their growing location. An area which receives full sun works best.
- Once the sunflower has bloomed, you can harvest the seeds and the flower head. To be used in cooking, baking or plant the new seeds for more sunflowers.
